Yoga is more than fitness. It CAN be fitness, and it can be your only fitness outlet if that’s what you choose...but Yoga is more than that. Yoga is a lifestyle that brings about healthy habits into your daily routine on and off the mat. Yoga is also an amazing fitness companion for those of you who are into fitness that’s more harsh on the body.
Show up! Come to a beginners class or book a private lesson to learn the basics. You are not expected to be “advanced”. Everyone is in a different part of their Yoga Journey and modifications will be made for all levels.
Then do Yoga! Becoming more flexible is a natural side affect to warming and stretching your muscles regularly.
There are endless benefits. Increased mobility and flexibility. Possible injury improvement. Weightloss. Strength building. An escape from reality. A way to work through stress, anxiety, and depression...just to name a few.
Consult your doctor before starting. There are many different forms of yoga and endless forms of modifications to cater the practice of yoga to your individual journey. Just be sure to let me know before class so I can work with you!
Your mat (let me know ahead of time if you need to borrow one). Clothing that is comfortable to you and will not get in the way. Water. Most importantly, your self...just show up! It doesn’t hurt to try.
